The Ritual Your Skin Deserves

Consistency is the most powerful ingredient of all

Why Ritual Matters

Skincare is not a single product. It is a practice — a sequence of intentional steps that, performed consistently, create cumulative, lasting change in the skin. The most sophisticated formula in the world will underperform if applied incorrectly, in the wrong order, or without regularity.

At REYSKIN, we design products to work as a system. Each step in your ritual has a purpose, and understanding that purpose transforms skincare from a routine into a ritual — something you do not just out of habit, but out of knowledge.

The Foundation: Cleansing

Every ritual begins with a clean canvas. Cleansing removes the day's accumulation of sebum, pollutants, sunscreen, and makeup — all of which can impair the absorption of the actives that follow. But cleansing must be done correctly.

The goal is to remove impurities without stripping the skin's natural lipid barrier. Harsh, high-pH cleansers disrupt the acid mantle — the skin's protective film — leaving it vulnerable and reactive. REYSKIN recommends a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser (ideally between pH 4.5 and 5.5) that cleanses effectively without compromising barrier integrity.

Morning: A light cleanse to remove overnight sebum and product residue.
Evening: A thorough cleanse (double cleanse if wearing SPF or makeup) to ensure a fully clean base for your treatment products.

Step Two: Treatment

This is where transformation happens. Treatment products — serums, essences, targeted actives — are formulated with the highest concentrations of efficacious ingredients. They are applied after cleansing, when the skin is clean and receptive, and before heavier products that could create a barrier to absorption.

The Correct Order of Actives

When layering multiple serums or treatments, apply from thinnest to thickest consistency. This ensures each product can penetrate without being blocked by a heavier formula applied before it.

  • Vitamin C serum — apply in the morning on clean skin, before moisturizer and SPF. Antioxidant protection is most needed during daylight hours.
  • Niacinamide serum — can be used morning or evening. Layer after water-based serums, before oils or creams.
  • Retinol — use in the evening only. Retinoids increase photosensitivity; nighttime application maximizes efficacy and minimizes UV-related degradation.
  • AHA/BHA exfoliants — use 2–3 times per week in the evening, not on the same nights as retinol. Avoid layering multiple exfoliating actives.

Step Three: Moisturizing

Moisturizer is not optional — even for oily skin. Its role is to seal in the hydration and actives applied in previous steps, support barrier function, and prevent transepidermal water loss (TEWL). A well-formulated moisturizer contains a combination of:

  • Humectants (e.g., hyaluronic acid, glycerin) — draw water into the skin
  • Emollients (e.g., squalane, fatty acids) — smooth and soften the skin surface
  • Occlusives (e.g., shea butter, plant waxes) — form a protective film to lock moisture in

For oily or acne-prone skin, a lightweight gel-cream with humectants and minimal occlusives is ideal. For dry or mature skin, a richer cream with a higher emollient and occlusive content provides the deeper nourishment the skin needs.

Step Four: Sun Protection (AM Only)

Sunscreen is the single most evidence-backed anti-aging intervention available. UV radiation is responsible for up to 80% of visible skin aging — including fine lines, hyperpigmentation, loss of elasticity, and uneven texture. No serum, no matter how advanced, can undo the cumulative damage of unprotected sun exposure.

Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning as the final step of your ritual — after moisturizer, before makeup. Reapply every two hours if you are spending time outdoors.

The Night Ritual: Repair and Regenerate

While you sleep, your skin enters its most active repair phase. Cell turnover accelerates, collagen synthesis increases, and the skin is more receptive to treatment ingredients. This is why your evening ritual is, in many ways, the most important one.

A complete evening ritual includes: double cleanse → treatment serum (retinol or targeted active) → moisturizer → optional facial oil or sleeping mask for deeper nourishment.

Consistency: The Non-Negotiable

The most common reason skincare doesn't work is inconsistency. Active ingredients require time to produce visible results — typically 4 to 12 weeks of regular use, depending on the ingredient and the concern being addressed. Switching products too frequently, skipping steps, or abandoning a routine before results appear are the most common barriers to transformation.

Build your ritual. Commit to it. The skin you want is not a product away — it is a practice away.
